Couldnt resist this 1968 2.0lt convertible triumph vitesse as my new project now that my 62 1600 is finished. The car has had lots done to it at some time in the past new door skins new bonnet . It needs a hood and carpets and a respray so now im getting into this one. Keep coming back for a weekly update by video. The car will be exactly the same colour as mine, signal red with with the white stripe down the side. I will be putting a new white hood on recolouring the interior black and new red carpets. I bought the car as a non runner but after putting petrol in and 5 minutes sucking the petrol through and putting a battery on she fired up. Has a problem with the choke which needs sorting out but other than that ran perfectly.

Video shows picking up the car on Tuesday the 29/05/07

Well i've done loads of work on the car over thr past two weeks, it was orbitaled all over with 80 and then 180 grit discs and then given a coat of primer. The bodywork was quite good with the bonnet and the front wings having been replaced some time in the past and new door skins. The interior was removed along with the carpets. The car was primed in a vile mustard colour primer and then guide coated in black before wet flatting with 600 wet and dry. Then the car was given four coats of signal red basecoat and four coats of 2k acrylic laquer. The car paintwork has been left now to harden off before flatting with 2000 and polishing.Whilst i'm waiting I have ordered the hood which is white with red piping and i've ordered the red carpet. Whilst the paint hrdens off i have been working on the mechanics and have fitted one replacement brake hose on the front and a set of overhauled calipers and new pads. The heater pipe from the back of the water pump was leaking and so was a hose so i have had a new pipe made and replaced all the hoses that needed doing. There was a split in the petrol pipe which i have replaced the smaller petrol pipe on the carbs have been renewed. On sunday we ran the car up for the second time. After cleaning and setting up the points and putting some new o rings and gaskets on one of the carbs and holding the choke on the car started first time. The choke cable is not set up properly and i geuss thats why there was a can of easy start in the boot. The engine runs sweet and several people coming round the garage heard it and said how well it ran.

Here's some pics
